Beyond the well-known sights of Luang Prabang lies one of the most extraordinary hidden
places in the district — a privately protected karst valley, 330 million years in the making.
Whether alone, as a couple, or with a small circle of friends: it never feels like a tour group.
Every visit is relaxed, personal, and entirely your own.
The day begins with a scenic drive into the privately protected Sacred Valley, following the
Heritage Circuit Trail through a dramatic karst landscape shaped over millions of years —
the perfect setting for "Shinrin-yoku," or forest bathing, in one of Northern Laos' last truly
wild landscapes.
A highlight is exploring the valley's historic cave, Tham Pha Bong — locally known as the
"Ghost Cave". Your guide interprets its ancient inscriptions and the site's colonial-era
role on the Opium Trail. A picnic-style snack follows inside the cave, before continuing to a
nearby Khmu village — home to one of Northern Laos' oldest indigenous ethnic groups.
The cave walls tell their own story — inscriptions dating from 1933 to 1978, each tied to a
defining chapter of Lao history, from the Indochina War to the struggle for independence. Your
guide brings each one to life on site.

The walk back leads through plantations and rice fields, before the trail slips back into primary
jungle — revealing a true hidden gem: the Tad Kuang Song Waterfall.
A scenic boat crossing of the Nam Khan River brings you to Château Orientale Resort, where coffee
or tea with pastries awaits before the return transfer to Luang Prabang.
